Paul Jackman has over 20 years experience of playing the Highland Bagpipes professionally. His extensive repertoire in both Scottish and Irish traditions allows him to play music appropriate to any occasion – from weddings and parties, to Burns night and New Years Eve celebrations, corporate events and funerals. He is a good communicator and will help with tune selection, positioning, timing etc: if needed to help the occasion along. He will wear no:1, or no:2 dress, whichever is appropriate; you may decide.

Dressed in kilt and full highland piping regalia, Paul adds a touch of nobility to any event. His music ranges from the stirring melancholy of slow airs such as ‘Dark Isle’, ‘She moved through the fair’ and ‘Amazing Grace’, through traditional marches such as, ‘Scotland the brave’, ‘Black Bear’  and ‘Maries wedding’ to party appropriate pieces such as ‘Flower of Scotland’, ‘Happy birthday’ and ‘Auld Lang Syne’. He also plays fast jigs and reels to get everyone dancing.

Although based in South Devon, Paul regularly plays throughout the South West, and beyond. Travel is not a problem or an expensive extra and his rates are reasonable.  He is usually available at short notice. He understands about time slippage and is always flexible

Paul also plays highland, border and Northumbrian bagpipes, melodeon, flute, whistle and bodhran with the upbeat barn dance and Ceilidh band ‘Piping Hot’. Playing lively Scottish, Celtic and Irish jigs and reels or rhythmic English dance tunes in either traditional or contemporary style – what a way to end the day’s celebrations!!  For details, visit their website  -
